Twilight fans are sinking their teeth into vampire culture by paying cosmetic surgeons to give them fangs. In most cases the young fans are willing to spend around $200 (about £132) of their - or their parents’ - money on temporary vampire veneers. Taylor Wilkins, 16, had the sharp fangs installed at the Houston office of Floss Dental. ...In the clinic Dr Clint Herzog applied a tooth-coloured resin to Taylor's canines then shaped the composite into gently-sloped fangs. "It's similar to the material that we use to bond braces on the teeth," Dr Herzog explains. "So it can be put...

Dentists urged fast food restaurants to label signs on their gigantic burger products to warn consumers against over-extend their mouths to eat such food, local media reported yesterday. Many diners had to see dentists for jaw-related issues after consuming beef burgers served by two fast food chains, whose sizes are larger than normal, said Hsu Ming-lun, associate professor of the School of Dentistry of National Yang-Ming University. Some of them faced sore jaws and some even had difficulties opening their mouths; both are typical symptoms of Temporomandibular dysfunction, an injury related to jaws, added Hsu. Is it any surprise that NHS dentists are more likely than private ones to just pull teeth out, rather than bother to fix them? I wouldn’t let the NHS anywhere near my teeth because I know that most of the better dentists have jumped ship - in part thanks to Labour’s dental reforms. NHS dentistry doesn’t even have the merit of being free. It’s just cheap, and the service provided shows. I mean, who wants an old-fashioned amalgam filling in full view? I certainly don’t. It was a breath of fresh air switching to a good private dentist. The dentists...

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Chris Collier has been a patient of Dr. Dave Rummel for 30 years. When it comes to teeth, Collier is more concerned about his health than his smile. Patients turn to DIY dentistry as the crisis in NHS care deepensBy JENNY HOPE - More by this author » Last updated at 06:48am on 15th October 2007 Hard to swallow: Few can find an NHS dentist The parlous state of NHS dentistry was exposed yesterday.  Such is the shortage of state-funded dentists that one in 20 patients has resorted to DIY treatment, in some cases pulling out their own teeth.  One in five has gone without treatment because of the cost.
